Dear KRIM Manager,

Thank you for your program Kit's Corner. It is an uplifting show promoting artists that would otherwise go unnoticed. We especially enjoy the music of Robert Windpony and feel it is a great honor to the Native American population to hear his music. Keep up the great work and programming.

I would be most happy to receive one copy of your latest CD. Based on what I'm hearing now I can assure you that I would give it repeated airplay on my weekly world music program "The Saturday Cafe" - and I would also bring it to the attention of my fellow producer Norvel Trosst. "Robert Windpony plays his spirit songs in traditional Native American style. This means there are no electronically created sounds or artificial instruments. Have you ever heard a new-age CD that mimics the ocean? You are not really hearing the ocean. You can not feel the salt, the breeze, the true nature of the waves. What you are hearing is a computer loop that may be relaxing, but lacks authenticity. At some point, deep in your gut – you know that the experience isn’t the real ocean. It’s just a computer recording thats trying to sound like an ocean. So when Robert Windpony’s CD landed on my desk, I became genuinely excited about hearing something ‘real.’

Robert feels that his playing is guided by spirit and that his flute playing gives voice to his spirit songs. He receives inspiration from his journeys in the deserts, high plateaus and mountains of the southwest. In his recordings, there is no wall between nature and music - they co-exist - creating a voice that is whole and interconnected. Robert Windpony is not a copy. He is alive in his music. He is in the moment and he takes you with him on a spiritual journey that is hauntingly gorgeous.

In preparing my review for this CD, I was already moved by the vision of the beautifully crafted wooden instrument and by a musician who freely states that his music is guided by spirit.

I continued to let Robert’s music play and the more I listened, the more I loved it. This music transcends the boundaries of time and space. It almost floats. There is a sense of the past in the deeply longing tones. And there is a sense of flight, moving forward. The Native American Flute in Robert’s hands almost sounds like a soulful bird. It glides in the air and lands on the earth softly. It is beautiful, sometimes haunting and always peaceful. The journey is always authentic.

On his website, Roberts states that his music is relaxing. I would state that it is more than relaxing. It is transforming."

Robert Windpony sent us his latest wind flute project called Moonrider and he blew us away. Windpony is actually Arizona-based be furst became interested in flutes after encountering a random musician in a hospital room who was playing for the patients there. Windpony is not only a great player who performs his spirit songs in traditional Native American style - he also has an attractive and enticing web site dedicated to the Native American wind instruments. When Robert records or performs in concert, he plays each song differently each time. Robert feels that his playing is guided by spirit and that his flute playing gives voice to his spirit songs. Robert divides his time between the deserts, high plateaus and mountains of the southwest and his journeys are the foundation for the gentle tones that abundant in his soothing music.

Voices of The Planet - Russia
Dmitry Shakin

I am honored to write to you from Russia. Let me tell you a few words about myself. My name is Dmitry Shakin and I produce several special radio shows on Vladivostok Broadcasting Corporation (Russian Far East) such as "New Era" (New Age Music, contemporary instrumental) and "Voices of the Planet" (music from all around the world).

If you asked for my personal opinion, I would say that this music is really something extraordinary since it has an ability to break down all the barriers helping us to understand each other better.

This wonderful, mystical and very expressive music comes directly from the heart. If I were asked to describe it with three words, I would say "beautiful, peaceful and, more important, happy". That's why I enjoy listening to it and telling my audience about it.

Also at present my music articles and CD reviews are published regularly in Russian full-color magazine Ocean News Illustrated. My reviews have received the words of appraise from Eric Berglund (USA), Tony O'Connor (Australia), Soundings of the Planet (USA), and some others. Jeff Stewart, Managing Director of New World Music (England), has called them "extremely comprehensive and very professional".

In my shows and reviews I am trying to transmit the feelings which are arising inside me while listening to such music; and if the music becomes favorite for somebody else, if it helps someone to overcome stress, if it helps someone to make an imaginary journey, - it makes me really happy.

I would be very grateful if you could send me, if possible, an airplay/review copy of Sky Blue album from your catalogue, which I could use in my shows and reviews.

Robert WindPony’s “MoonRider” is a pacifying collection of traditional Native American flute music. With no artificial or electronic sounds used, this CD shows off Robert’s amazing talent for playing these rarely used native flutes. An atmosphere of soul searching and deep serenity is passed on to listeners through Robert’s captivating compositions. “Drifting Village” displays all of these characteristics, and introduces an interesting sound with its short, piercing notes.
